Getting Started

Identify your most convenient Middlesex Recovery Clinic. We encourage you to call or fill out a form to learn more about the treatment program. A treatment team member will conduct a brief, introductory assessment. Based off that assessment, an intake appointment will be scheduled within 24-48 hours.

The current requirements for eligibility are:

• Patient must be 18 years of age or older
• Valid photo ID
• Evidence of Opioid or Alcohol Use Disorder, or feelings that your everyday life is no longer manageable due to using alcohol or opioids
• Agreement to terms and program policies

Your initial appointment with the medical provider will take approximately 90 minutes. After this initial meeting, your medical provider will complete your individualized treatment plan and schedule your next appointment.

Our medical providers are highly trained in prescribing FDA approved buprenorphine medications such as Suboxone®, Sublocade®, and Vivitrol®. Once you start our treatment program, you will receive a prescription that you can fill at the pharmacy of your choice. As you progress in treatment, you will be scheduled for follow-up appointments with your provider and the frequency of appointments will be based on your individual needs and medical provider’s recommendation. The follow-up appointments include a medication check as well as a brief examination. You can share any concerns during these appointments about your medication, dosage, or side effects with your medical provider.

There is substantial evidence that combining medication-assisted treatment with substance use counseling is highly effective in providing patients with tools for a lasting and sustainable recovery. Middlesex Recovery offers in-house individual counseling at select locations, while others refer patients to outside counseling or other supportive services. We are committed to your success and encourage all patients to explore support groups to supplement their recovery treatment plan.
