Outpatient Opioid Addiction Treatment in Chelmsford, MA

Opioid addiction continues to impact individuals across Massachusetts, leading to physical dependence, emotional struggles, and social challenges. At Middlesex Recovery Chelmsford, we offer proven, evidence-based treatment to help patients achieve long-term recovery.

We offer FDA-Approved Medications to treat Opioid Use Disorder (OUD):
    • Suboxone (Buprenorphine/Naloxone) – combination of buprenorphine with naloxone – an opioid antagonist taken in pill form that binds to opioid receptors without actually activating them.
    • Vivitrol (Naltrexone Injection) – opioid antagonist that is approved to treat patients who misuse opioid medications or alcohol. It comes in the form of injection and is designed to reduce and suppress cravings for alcohol and opiate drugs. It does this by attaching to the opioid receptors in the brain, thereby removing opiate drugs on the receptors and suppressing future cravings.
    • Brixadi (Extended-Release Buprenorphine Injection) – We offer an extended-release injectable form of buprenorphine, Brixadi. It is used to treat opioid use disorder and is similar to Sublocade with some differences. The injection can be given once per week or once a month and is a smaller injection that can be injected through different sites on a person’s body. The injection can only be administered by a healthcare professional.
    • Sublocade (Extended-Release Buprenorphine Injection) –  Sublocade is a monthly injection designed to provide a steady release of buprenorphine, helping to manage withdrawal symptoms and reduce opioid cravings. By binding to opioid receptors in the brain, it prevents other opioids from producing euphoric effects, lowering the likelihood of relapse and supporting long-term recovery.

    Substance Use Counseling

Counseling is an essential part of addiction recovery, helping individuals develop coping strategies, address emotional triggers, and build a foundation for long-term success.

    • Individual counseling – One-on-one counseling sessions that will help you to better understand the emotional factors behind your addiction. This is a safe, confidential space to work through past trauma, create healthy coping habits and goal-setting for your recovery.
    • Group counseling – There is strength in numbers, and group counseling is where you’ll learn you’re not alone in this process. Others recovering from opioid or alcohol use disorders attend group therapy to meet others like them and encourage one another on the pathway to long-lasting recovery.

So had a discussion with the office manager about middlesex prescribing psychiatric medication’s.

I have to go to arbor Counsling to get my meds and their program isn’t as sufficient as middlesex recovery.

When will you get this implemented into your program? I love this program but due to this issue I have to go to 2 programs at once.

Please as a patient for years rectify this situation.

I have been a patient of Middlesex Recovery since 2013. Since becoming a patient, I have worked full time, and like most of us, have professional and personal obligations. What this practice asks of you is a small piece in comparison to the big picture. You will be expected to appear for your weekly, or bi weekly appointment, and provide a screen. Over the years I have had the pleasure of receiving care from multiple doctors at Middlesex, and all delivered exceptional patient care. It’s one thing to be a doctor with excellent education and training, it’s another to complement that knowledge and skill with exceptional patient interpersonal skills. Dr. O’Connor was the first doctor I saw back in 2013. Even though I no longer see him, a relationship was built where I trust him. Dr. O’Conner, in my opinion, understood recovery is not always pretty or perfect, and patients can feel and express the good, bad, and ugly without giving up. People in recovery tend to have a keen sense when someone isn't listening. Or get that vibe that he or she could care less. When we were using, not doing well, and destroying lives that skill was sharpened over and over regardless of the regret and shame that piled on. Not once have I gotten that feeling from any of the staff at Middlesex Recovery. I have also been a patient of Dr. Harrington, Dr. Smikle, and currently Dr. Wightman. All of them deliver great patient care as Dr. O’Connor exhibits. This allows a patient to build an honest relationship which can be lifesaving regardless of how it sounds. Middlesex recovery doesn't just employ some of the best addiction specialist clinicians, they also employ the best support staff. Margarita who works out of the Woburn office is outstanding at her job, moreover she is just an amazing human being. There have been times where something happens, a long weekend approaches and I call with all my end of the world problems and Margarita picks up. She listens, and if a solution is possible that woman will find it. She speaks to you respectfully and kindly. When she has told me she will call me back, she calls me back promptly. Not the next day or the day after that. How many times have you called any doctor's office and nobody calls you back, or knows what you are talking about. Not at Middlesex. Margarita in the Woburn office is one of a kind. She has always called me back and updated me on whatever the issue was. She has never left me hanging. For myself, that kind of experience is why I don't seek another practice regardless of where I move over the years. I can't not mention Laura and Katlyn at the Chelmsford office. These ladies have been there for me for multiple problems over the years, always respectful and do whatever possible to help. Last but not least any issues or help I needed regarding billing or insurance questions Tanesha has been always helpful and pragmatic with a solution. This practice checks all the boxes and more. You should feel fortunate if you are a patient, because other options don't come close. Middlesex recovery might save your life, or preserve a loved one’s life. Infinitely grateful

I have been a patient here for 4 years and can truly say that Middlesex Recovery has an amazing staff of people. Dr. Laplante is a hero to me and I miss her greatly. It is so uncommon to go to a place where everyone who is there knows that you are a recovering addict and yet still treat you with utmost respect and dignity. 🫶🏼
